Kauai economic recovery forecast to continue in fourth quarter
Kauai’s economic recovery is forecast to continue over the next few months, led by strong gains in the tourism sector, according to a report from the county’s Office of Economic Development.
The report, which was prepared for the county by Island Matters LLC, found that tourism spending was a major contributor to the Garden Isle’s economy. Per-person per-day spending rose 3.5 percent in the second quarter, and the average daily visitor count this year is expected to rise by 2.5 percent to 20,900 in the fourth quarter, from 20,400 last year, the county said.
