Hawaii hotels prepare for influx of Chinese visitors
With arrivals from China expected to grow by nearly 40 percent this year, Hawaii’s hotel owners and managers are busy preparing marketing strategies, employees and facilities to help capture their share of this emerging market.
More than 114,000 Chinese visitors are anticipated in Hawaii this year, according to Hawaii Tourism Authority data, and they will spend, on average, $396 per person per day — more than visitors from any other market. Even with recent concerns about a slowdown, China’s economy remains one of the fastest-growing in the world. And its importance is only expected to grow in coming years.
